Worked in the colonial service in Nigeria, where in his spare time he carried out archaeological investigations. In 1947 Fagg was appointed Assistant Surveyor of Antiquities in Nigeria and in 1957 he was appointed Director of the Department of Antiquities. He designed and had built Jos Museum and other Museums in Nigeria. He is listed as giving a talk at the Surrey Archaeological Society in the Morning Chronicle of 6.7.1857 issue 28248. A member of the Quaker Fox family that owned Glendurgan Garden, Falmouth. Little is known of this particular individual, he is presumably related to Edward Burnett Tylor via his wife. This is probably the George H. Fox listed in the 1901 census as being aged 55, born and living in Falmouth, Cornwall and described as a 'Ship Agent Timber Merchant' [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 16/01/2007]
