Biography Jessie Payne Smith was the daughter of the Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford and later wife of the Professor of Arabic, David Samuel Margoliouth. She was a Syriac scholar. This might also be her sister Mary Payne Smith whp wrote a memoir of her father's life.
