Biography Information from letter from donor: 'Sarah Ann Hickman was born at Stoke Under Lynne near Bicester 1834. Her father was clerk at the parish church. She commenced being taught at the making of lace at six years old at a dames school in the parish. In the evenings they worked by candle, with glass bowl reflector. At 19 years of age she married William Hopcroftson at Straw [? semilegible] Hall, near Fritwell, and lived in that parish until her 85th year.'
