Biography 'The firm was founded by Harris Holland (1806-96) in the year 1835. ...Harris had a tobacco wholesale business in London. Being a very accomplished shot, his friends convinced him to start his own gun-making business. He took on his nephew to work with him and in 1876 the name was changed to Holland and Holland.
