Individual's Details

[Mrs] G.A. Fitz Adam Ormiston

Career Unknown / ?Writer

Biography It is possible that this person is actually called E. Margaret FitzAdam-Ormiston (she gave a Tibetan collection). Nothing however is known of her except she either (or both) lived in Dorset and Oxfordshire [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 19/02/2007] There seem to be two donors registered in the accession books called Fitzadam-Ormiston or Fitz-Adam Ormiston one called Mrs G.A. Fitz-Adam Ormiston and one called E. Margaret Fitzadam-Ormiston. Both collected in northern India/ Tibet and both refer to a husband's collecting as well. E. Margaret Ormiston lived in Shaftesbury, Dorset. In addition there seems to be a Mrs Fitzadam-Ormiston who might be the same woman who lives, at around the same time in Weston-on-the-Green in Oxfordshire. This person seems to have collected in Tibet/ Northern India too. In the donor catalogue there is 3 cards under this name: 1. Ormiston, Mrs G.A. Fitz-Adam, 2. Fitz-adam Ormiston Mrs E. Margaret or Mrs G.A. [in pencil on this card the hyphen between Fitz-Adam is crossed out and a hyphen is added between Fitzadam and Ormiston] and 3. Fitz-Adam J.T. v [ie see] Ormiston, Mrs G.A. Fitz-Adam. I would suggest that they are possibly all the same person as they are collecting in the same area at the same time and the donor catalogue appears to agree with me. For this reason all the various spellings and varieties of surname are given in the PRM source field above. If it turns out that there was in fact more than one woman these records need to be separated. [AP 3/10/2001]
