Biography Born in Norwich (presumably why several objects were obtained from there), studied at the University of Oxford and then took the Diploma at the Museum, undertook anthropological and archaeological research in Egypt, including work with the rural poor which was innovative for the period (published as 'The Fellahin of Upper Egypt' [1927]), librarian Department of Social Anthropology, Oxford, worked as a volunteer at the Pitt Rivers Museum for many years.
