This tall, narrow pot has been shaped to look like a gourd. A gourd is
a hard-shelled fruit that grows in many shapes and sizes, and can be trained
to grow in different shapes. Its shell is often used as a vessel or utensil,
and it can be used as a mould or model for shaping pottery. The vessel
was made some time before 1884 and forms part of the Pitt Rivers founding
collection.
