This clam-shell neck pendant from the Solomon Islands has been engraved on both sides with drawings of frigate birds. The frigate bird accompanied shoals of bonito fish, showing fishermen where the fish were. Because of the frigate bird’s importance in the Solomon Islands, it often featured in myth, ritual, and art.
