Yuthak Theiji. Personal name Tashi Dhondup. Born 1904. Is the younger brother of Yutok Se I. Entered Government service in 1924. Was sent to India in 1925-26 for artillery training at Quetta. On his return to Tibet was appointed one of the Kan-dršns (Secretary to the Kashag). During the summer of 1932 he received training in the use of machine guns at Gyantse under the Officer Commanding British Trade Agent's. Was De-pšn commanding the Dalai Lama's Bodyguard (Kusung). Was Officer commanding Crack Trapchi Regiment founded in 1933, with a strength of 700 men. After the death of the Dalai Lama the strength was reduced about 200 men as remainder objected to method of their recruitment, which amounted to conscription and disabanded. Was one of the best military officers in Tibet and very pro-British. Was Kusung De-pšn (Commander of the Dalai Lama's Bodyguard) until 1938 when he was promoted to Theiji, and appointed head of the Salt and Tea Tax Department. Married a daughter of Surkhang Surpa. Was promoted to the rank of Dzasa and appointed Do-chi (Commissioner in Kham) in November, 1942. Left Lhasa for Kham in April, 1943. Returned to Lhasa in November, 1947.
