About the map

The aim of the Other Within project was to provide a visual representation of the English collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum, as well as a detailed analysis of the collections. The maps on these webpages are the result of this work.

The map on the main Other Within site was developed by David Harris. This map, and the main Englishness site as a whole, was awarded with the 2008 OxTALENT Award for Teaching and Learning.

The maps on these pages were developed by Daniel Burt. These maps were initially designed to be used for analysing the content of the data and producing timeline maps, but work on the project quickly allowed them to be used as an alternative map of the entire English collection.
