Description:
A Mandari family group sitting within the staked circle of a cattle-camp fire, including a woman and man both with a young child, and a youth looking on beyond. Such fires were lit in the centre of the cattle kraal during the dry season to keep away pests that troubled the animals at night. Just beyond the mother is a large open-weave basket containing other vessels and objects.
