Evans-Pritchard notes that 'A man who dies away from home is buried in the place of his death, and there is a ceremony to bring his spirit back to his own house.
Therefore if a woman is ill, she will go away from her husband's house to that of her parents.
The dead are placed in a plain grave with a broken spear, a little tobacco sometimes being added.
When completed, stones are placed round the grave, and the dead man's angarib, if he had one, is placed on top.
Failing an angarib, digging sticks are placed on top.' [Chris Morton 4/2/2004]
