Evans-Pritchard quotes an informant who states that "The Zande commoners have a profound contempt for Vongara daughters because of their love of incest, and they marry them with little enthusiasm and with the feeling that they will not be faithful or make good housewives.
So they are divorced on the strength of shaky suspicion.
There are of course many good wives among them but the shadow of incest follows them to the grave."
