Description:
A full length portrait of a Zande man holding a spear, possibly a fishing spear.
He has a small barkcloth loin covering and a knife at his right hip.
The Makaraka (this name for the Zande of the Odio area seems to be of Mittu origin) were part of the Zande kingdom and speak a dialect of the Zande language.
Buchta made an excursion to Makaraka country setting out from Juba on 7th July and returning there on 26th August 1879.
