Description:
A number of cattle making their way across a plain, with a light coloured ox with tasselled decoration on its upright left horn, its right horn trained backwards.
Youth decorated their favourite oxen in this manner for aesthetically pleasing effects, and the identification between them and their ox was such that they took their initiated name and prestige from it.
In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.

Notes:
There would seem to be two Rolleiflex films identified as no.
6 in the Nuer series, which I have identified based upon differences in the handwritten style of enumerating the number 6 on the print reverses, as well as on visual content.
