The Department of Antiquities at the Ashmolean Museum (University of Oxford) holds a large archive of working papers by R.F. Ovenell of which this transcription is part of a series of Ovenell's manuscript notes relating to Rowell and his work in the 1870s and 1880s made in a lined hard bound book and numbered RFO/A/3/11.  We are very grateful to the Ashmolean Museum for allowing us to place this transcription on this website and wish to thank Alison Roberts in particular for her help in this matter. Anyone wanting to consult the originals please contact the Department of Antiquities at Tel: +44 (0)1865 278020 Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. This is a transcription of a transcription by R.F. Ovenell of part of a list dated December 1879 of locations of various parts of the Ashmolean Museum collections on that date. It appears to have been written by John Obidiah Westwood, who was one of the Visitors of the Ashmolean Museum (for more information about his other roles, please see Key Players link on menu to the left).
