60th Rifles; Biography: Nothing specific is known of the individual from the Rifles who gave this object. The light infantry regiment was formally known as the King's Royal Rifle Corps. In 1815, its name was changed to The Duke of York's Own Rifle Corps. It was originally recruited from American colonists. In 1966 it became part of the Royal Green Jackets. Use of the old name might suggest the object predated 1815. It might also be that the item came from Colonel North, qv, who served with the 60th Rifles.; Dates: No specific dates known
