Country breakdown for second collection

Countries represented in the second collection of Augustus Pitt-Rivers:

Please note: the Pitt Rivers Museum uses current country names to geographically provenance its collections. This can cause problems when researching a historical collection like the founding collection. In this instance where possible modern country names have been identified and used; where a current geo-political country is not possible to identify (for example between North and South Korea, American Samoa and Samoa, Papua New Guinea and West New Guinea (Indonesia) or the Congo countries) a more historical name has been used (in these cases Korea, Samoa, New Guinea and Congo respectively).

Therefore a single object might count against two or more countries and the count of countries totals will not work out to the total number of objects in the founding collection. They may therefore be taken as the maximum number of objects from any particular country as at 24.5.2010.
