Necklace, of shell and teeth hair, from Tonga; part of the Forster collection (part of Forster 98; 1886.1.1573)

Necklace of brown human hair threaded with 30 white shell discs and 3 small pointed pink shells. Some of the white beads are lodged into position with a small wooden wedge placed through a central hole - this keeps the beads in position on the cord.
