PRM0001515453103Ear ornament of shell, wood and plant fibre, from the Marquesas Islands; part of the Forster collection (Forster 138, 'an ornament for the ear'; 1886.1.707) 

This ear ornament is made of a single piece of wood onto which the base of a white cone shell has been stuck.  It is the only Marquesan ear ornament collected on Cook's voyages. (Maximum length 76mm, maximum width 32mm.)
