Pottery figure, Peru

This painted pottery figure was found in an ancient Peruvian grave. The grave belonged to a young girl. It is possible that this figurine was a beloved plaything, used in life, and left with the child after death. Alternatively, it may have been valued for its ritual or ornamental significance, or given to the child only after death for some purpose in the afterlife.
