This silver bracelet was made by a travelling Navajo jeweller in New Mexico in the southwestern United States. It was collected some time before 1905. The Navajo people have bought and worn silver jewellery since the sixteenth century, but they only began to produce silver jewellery in the 1860s. Since the early twentieth century, Navajo jewellers have produced a great deal of silver jewellery especially for the tourist market, and the jewellery has become famous all over the world.
