Feather headdress, Guyana

Amongst the Waiwai of Amazonia, a man proved his skill at hunting birds by being well ornamented with feathers, so increasing his chances of attracting a wife. This black, red, and yellow headdress was collected among the Waiwai between 1940 and 1950.
