Lion's teeth, Tanzania

People all over the world have used animal parts – for example teeth or claws – in their jewellery or body ornaments. In many cultures, animal parts are used to demonstrate status or hunting prowess. This pair of lion’s canine teeth was collected in the 1880s amongst the Chagga in Tanzania. They were worn as a trophy.
