A caravan of pack animals loaded with wool are led down a path away from Gyantse. The Dzong can be seen in the background, as can the settlements that surround the hill. The striped walls of buildings on the left of the image indicate that this is monastic property

In Negative - 'F-23' has been written along the right edge of the negative in blue-black ink [MS 11/08/2006]

Notes on print/mount - Two contact prints made from this negative are contained in A. J. Hopkinson's negative case with the negative. The prints were made using Velox paper. The first has the caption 'Gyantse. Old Fort. Wool caravan in foreground' written on the back in pencil along with the reference 'F.23'. The second has the same reference number but accompanied by the name 'A. J. Hopkinson', all again written in pencil [MS 11/08/2006]
