Other Information - Dates

Other Information - Dates: This photograph was taken in 1927 and two dates seem most likely. The first is that of March 19th, when Hopkinson comments in his journal that he visited to the photographs and took lots of photographs [A. J. Hopkinson Archive, OIOC British Library, Mss Eur D998/54, Journal Letters from Gyantse and Various Camps, 1927-28, commencing March 20th 1927, Gyantse, pages 6-9]. The second is that of May 5th when Hopkinson again visited the monastery with Colonel Eliot [A. J. Hopkinson Archive, OIOC British Library, Mss Eur D998/54, Journal Letters from Gyantse and Various Camps, 1927-28, commencing May 22nd 1927, Gyantse, page 3]. However, Hopkinson visited the monastery on a number of occasions and this dating is, therefore, conjectural [MS 15/07/2006]
