This photograph was probably taken on March 31st 1927. On this visit to Phari Hopkinson commented on how he found the streets to be dirty and unpleasant. On later visits, however, he commented how beautiful the town could be set in meadows full of wild flowers. The images of Phari taken on this day reflect his earlier view. Here, two monks can be seen walking towards the camera while others observe the photographer
