Tsechen is situated just outside Gyantse and was the site of a large religious complex which had been partially destroyed during the Younghusband Expedition on 1904. Hopkinson sometimes made a detour there when en route to Gobshi to see Tibetan carpets being manufactured. The horses of some of the Trade Agency staff and their aides can be seen in a field full of flowers next to a river. Hopkinson made this trip first on March 20th 1927
