Richardson's visit to Talung, 1939
Notes on print - 'Kanchen dzonga & Chomolhari' is written on the reverse of the print in pencil in Richardson's hand and 'Velox' in an oval stamped in black. [KC 18/4/2006]
Manual Catalogues - Notes on negative index - Folio 90. 'Be Tsang plain'.
Manual Catalogues - Richardson's handlist 'Album no.2' [nos.] '59-61. 'The Be-tsang plain, yak grazing ground.'
Other Information - Although the caption written on the reverse of the print suggests that the mountain range includes the Himalayan peaks, Chomolhari and Kanchenjunga, this is an error as the print is clearly of the Betsang plain and the Nyenchen Thangla range. [KC 18/4/2006]
Other Information - Dates: This image can be related to a group of 13 images which have contact prints with the batch development number '512 taken on, before or just after the Talung tour in May 1939. This batch number relates also to the 512 Black for 21 6x9 images suggesting that by this time Richardson was using two cameras and that the batch numbers can also correlate with each other across print sizes [MS 17/12/2005]
