In Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande (OUP 1937, page 184) E. E. Evans-Pritchard notes that 'Ongosi is a man who from boyhood has been closely associated with court life and has largely acquired the detached attitude of the nobles towards 'Zande' (commoner) practices.' Elsewhere (p.69, 399) he notes that Ongosi was one of his closest Zande friends.
