Description:
A vignette head-and-shoulders profile portrait of a Zande woman with strings of beads around the neck, dotted scarification marks on the shoulder and three vertical lines on the cheek.
The same woman features in another full length portrait at the entrance to a homestead.
Buchta made an excursion to the groups west of the Nile in 1879 setting out from Juba on 7th July and returning there on 26th August.
