Necklace, of shell, coconut shell, and teeth (?), from Tonga; part of the Forster collection (part of Forster 98; 1886.1.1572)
Necklace of white shell and coconut shell beads, with two pendants. The larger is possibly a canine tooth from a dog, showing a distinction between enamel and root. The smaller pendant appears to be carved from whale tooth in the shape of a canine tooth. There is also the possibility that the latter, or even both, are teeth from a porpoise
