Hand-weapon, patou pounamu, of nephrite, from New Zealand; part of the Forster collection (Forster 115; 1886.1.1150)
Hand-weapon, patu pounamu, of nephrite. The stone from which the weapon is carved has several major flaws in it, notably at the handle end and on the flat part of the blade on both sides. On one side are two grooves, one on the edge of the body and one on the edge of the handle; these are possibly saw marks
