Ahmed

Full length seated portrait of AhmedThesiger met Ahmed in Dubai in the spring of 1948. Ahmed was First Mate to Haji Mansur, captain of the dhow on which Thesiger travelled from Dubai to Bahrain. In one of his later publications Thesiger would recall Ahmed's tireless work ethic on the voyage, describing him as "cheerful and hard-working" (1950: 115).
