"This amuletic necklace 'grew' though my life - first the brass Ganesh, which I bought in 1960 in London when I was a student, then the cat fish and the brass figure - both amulets from museum shops - given by my mother in the 1970s; the brass ring was made by my son, Noah, in school metalwork class. The mask (British Museum) was given by my brother and sister after the death of our parents in 1990. I wear them all to bring me courage."
