Animal figures made from melted-down cartridge cases in Northern Nigeria in the late 1930s or early 1940s. The largest is 13 cms long and 12.5 cms high. It is only from the testimony of the person who donated these figures to the Museum that we know that the 'parent' artifacts for the animal figures were cartridge cases. With many recycled objects made from melted down materials, the form of the 'parent' artifact is not visible. (1942.7.9, 1942.7.12, 1942.7.6).
