This is an entrance (rangach) to a Luo homestead (dala) which in most cases is closed at night. The euphorbia surrounding fence terminates here leaving a gap, and vertical wooden posts are dug into the ground on both sides to strengthen it. The posts are made to hold horizontal poles which are used to close the entrance at night. This is a view from inside the homestead looking out into the open grassy field. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004]
