Luo women near Gangu village laughing with the missionary Archdeacon W. E. Owen. One woman has a large container basket (adita or hamiero) on her head, one a winnowing basket tray (odheru) on her head, and two have only head scarfs. One of the women is carrying a woven handbag basket (okapu) on her arm. The woman to the right is wearing a well-known Luo headdress called ligisa, which is worn by married and elderly women and by traditional female dancers. She has also wrist rings (minyonge) on both her arms and a neck scarf. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004]
