Description

This tree is a euphorbia species known in Luo as bondo, and along with the thorn tree (ali) it is one of the commonest trees of Luo country. Such big trees are sometimes considered shrines since they sometimes grow where a legend suggests the location of a clan or clan leader's settlement. In that case the tree becomes sacred to local people. Beyond the tree is a view of Lake Kanyaboli, fed by the river Yala. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004]
