Description

A fishing boat at the shore of Lake Victoria at Kendu Bay in South Nyanza District. The upcurving prow of the fishing boat has tied to it the horns of an antelope, which was a common ritual attachment on Luo boats, with bird plumes and other ritual objects. These boats were made from planks cut from a special tree and constructed by sewing them together. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004]
