Description

These men are building a Luo round house (ot). The construction starts with digging a round trench in which cut poles of different sizes are put and stabilized. Then the horizontal supports of usually young trees or split sisal are tied around them to hold them together as a wall (kor ot). Finally the last wall plate on which the roof (tado) will lie is done and woody vegetation placed in the wall vertically, which is what these men seem to be doing. The entire wall would then be plastered over with earth and cow dung both inside and outside. This plastering process is only done after the roof is put on, lest the rain spoil it.
