An upper body portrait of a local colonial administration policeman (identified as Ayunta?) known in Luo as askari kanga. His belt, his short-sleeved shirt and his hat (barrette) were the distinctive attire of the askari at that time. He has a watch on his wrist and earrings on both ears. I also think he may be at an administrative center where new crops like banana and pawpaw were first introduced and planted in Luo country. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004]
