Research Notes

The name John is transcribed as Jonah in Evans-Pritchard's notes, no doubt his interpretation of the Luo pronunciation. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004 & CM 23/03/2007] Absalom is identified in 1998.349.173, .195 & .229 as 'Absalom'; in 1998.349.168 as 'Absala'; in 1998.349.29 as 'Abraham' and 1998.349.47 as 'Abrahim'. Although this is slightly confusing, we have decided to identify him as Absalom throughout for consistency. [Gilbert Oteyo 9/9/2004 & CM 04/04/2007]
