Description

Luo people making ropes for fishing nets and traps from a very tough lake-shore grass. In front of them is the lake shore beach with papyrus reeds behind them. These men may be just people in the rope or fishing net trade, but they may also be fishermen themselves. At least two of these men wear goat skins (pien) and several wear glass and other beads (tik ng'ut). The one seated extreme left is wearing a horn (tung') on the chest, and this may be an antelope horn for his snuff. [Gilbert Oteyo 06/05/05]
