Description

A portrait of a Luo man wearing bead ornaments around the neck and waist, an upper arm leather/hide bangle, metal leg rings and armlets (minyonge) and a skin apron both at the back and front. The man is sitting on a stool in front of a colonial administrative building, almost certainly at the newly established centre in Kisumu. The building is carefully constructed from local materials, including bundles of lake reeds surrounding the roof supports to form an open verandah, and stone work beneath.
